This article covers Indonesia’s climate governance framework, including emissions control policies and the evolving of carbon market ecosystem following the issuance of Presidential Regulation 110 of 2025 in October 2025. It outlines the key regulatory requirements governing international carbon trading, domestic emission cap-and-trading systems, monitoring, reporting and verification (MRV) obligations, and applicable registry system (including SRI-PPI and SRUK).

The chapter also addresses renewable energy policies and regulations across a broad range of technologies, including wind, solar, hydropower, geothermal, waves and tidal energy.

The discussion concludes with emerging trends and recent regulatory developments, including new government initiatives influencing Indonesia’s energy transition, the renewable energy roadmap, the carbon trading infrastructure, and the implementation of the 2025–2034 Electricity Supply Business Plan (RUPTL) in support of Indonesia’s net-zero emissions target.
